AGV-Talk No. 50
with Frank Bauder, Safety Expert @ VDI and Forum-FTS
& Dr Constantin Scholz, SAFEBOT Lead @ BruBotics and imec
In Europe, we have the highest safety requirements in the world. All safety components in our mobile robots are yellow, meaning they are dual-channel and designed for maximum performance. The aim is to ensure that absolutely no accidents involving personal injury occur.
In Asia, the situation is different. At present, new developments in mobile robotics, especially in humanoid robots, are being pursued with such enthusiasm that there is little room for safety concerns. Global markets are attractive, and the world is set to undergo technological change.
Are our safety requirements correct and important because they allow us to protect our own supplier market? Or do we need to rethink our approach so that we are not overwhelmed?
What is the future of safety in mobile robotics? I want to discuss this with my two really interesting guests, so it’s going to be a groundbreaking discussion! I’m looking forward to it!
