Guide to Terms in Mobile Robotics

Whereas in the past there were only Automated Guided Transport Systems (AGTS) and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), numerous other terms have emerged in recent times: AMR, MR, IGV and many more.
This guide aims to establish a common understanding of this terminology. The key terms in mobile robotics – ranging from mobile robotics itself, through AGVs, AMRs and ATS, to mobile robot systems (MRS) – are clearly defined and distinctly delineated from one another. The aim is both to objectify the technical discussion and to provide suppliers and users with a reliable, standardised terminology.
