AGV-Talk No. 57
Presenter: Dr Günter Ullrich, Head of Forum-FTS and VDI FA MR
Guest: Steffen Strickrodt, Vice President Customer Success, Synaos GmbH, Hannover
The central control system has always played a key role in the success of an AGV deployment. It receives transport orders from a user and ensures that these are reliably carried out by a vehicle from the available AGV/AMR fleet.
To this end, we have drafted a new VDI guideline within the VDI MR Technical Committee, which will be published shortly.
At the last AGV symposium, we discussed the role that the control system plays in modern AGV projects based on standardised data interfaces.
Synaos is the best-known representative of a new generation of control system manufacturers. Synaos is not tied to any particular vehicle manufacturer, but offers its software to all stakeholders in AGV projects who wish to orchestrate a wide variety of vehicle fleets – whether vehicle manufacturers, users, main contractors or integrators.
Today we want to discuss what defines a modern control system. What has changed over time? What demands are placed on control systems, and what responsibilities is a modern software manufacturer such as Synaos prepared to take on?
Look forward to a lively hour in which the moderator’s decades of experience will be contrasted with the perspective of Steffen Strickrodt, who speaks from the viewpoint of a provider of modern orchestration software – and perhaps by the end we’ll also clarify whether ‘AGV control system’ is still the right name.
