FTS-Talk 43: The new role of risk assessment

27 February 2025 - 16:00

AGV-Talk No. 43

with Rolf Schumacher, Sick AG, Waldkirch

Today we want to focus once again on the safety of mobile robotics. I would like to welcome Rolf Schumacher from Sick AG, who has spent his entire professional life discussing the safety of AGVs and AMRs. He has been a member of the VDI AGV expert committee for 20 years and has organised countless training courses. We want to take a closer look at the topic of risk assessment with him and orientate ourselves on the following structure:
  • Theory (MRL, MVO) versus practice
  • Do standards help?
  • Intended use
  • Persons and their tasks
  • Identification of hazards
  • Initial risk assessment (tools)
  • Assessing the initial risk
  • Interactive three-stage process for risk minimisation
  • Acceptable (residual) risk
Nobody needs to be afraid of getting bored. In the VDI working group ‘Safety’, the topics are discussed again and again and our level of knowledge is updated. The discussions always take us further and are always instructive! And that will also be the case with this AGV talk – I promise! As always, I’m looking forward to it! Best regards Günter Ullrich Forum-FTS
